Who We Are

Mission

Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ through the faithful preaching of the gospel, fellowship, and service in our community.

We are committed to:

  • Exalting Christ through Christ-centered worship and the clear teaching of God’s Word.

  • Equipping believers to grow in their faith, serve one another, and share the gospel boldly.

  • Engaging our community with the love of Christ, reaching out to those in need, and reflecting the light of Jesus in every part of life.

  • Encouraging a deep, personal walk with God that transforms lives and families.

  • Empowering the next generation to carry the gospel forward with passion and conviction.

We believe that as we faithfully live out this mission, God will continue to build His church, bringing hope and transformation to Canutillo and beyond.

Our Story

First Hispanic Baptist Church of Canutillo has a rich history of faith, service, and community. Founded by a group of faithful believers committed to sharing the gospel, the church has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant, bilingual congregation that serves the Canutillo community and beyond.

From the beginning, this church has been a place where lives are transformed, families are strengthened, and the love of Christ is shared. Over the decades, the church has seen generations of believers come together to worship, learn, and serve, building a legacy of faith that continues to this day.

Throughout its history, First Hispanic Baptist Church has remained steadfast in its commitment to the authority of Scripture, the proclamation of the gospel, and the call to make disciples of all nations. Through changing times, the church has held fast to its biblical foundation, supporting missions, caring for the needy, and encouraging spiritual growth.

As we look to the future, our mission remains clear—to glorify God, build up the body of Christ, and reach our community with the life-changing message of the gospel. We invite you to join us in this ongoing journey of faith.

What We Believe

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, fully sufficient for all matters of faith and practice. It is the final authority by which every thought and action must be tested. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Nature of God

We believe in one true and living God, who exists eternally in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each fully God and worthy of worship. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, perfectly holy, and unchanging. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Revelation 4:8)

The Works of God

We believe God created all things for His glory and sovereignly rules over creation. He upholds and directs all things according to His perfect will. (Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16-17, Ephesians 1:11)

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are created in the image of God, yet through Adam’s disobedience, all have fallen into sin, becoming separated from God and deserving His just judgment. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12)

Salvation by Grace

We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through faith alone in Jesus Christ, apart from works. It is the work of God from beginning to end, accomplished through the death and resurrection of Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, John 14:6)

The Person and Work of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, the eternal Son of God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the dead, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father. (John 1:1, Colossians 2:9, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, regenerate and indwell believers, and empower the church for holy living and faithful witness. (John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Ephesians 1:13-14)

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers, called to worship God, disciple one another, and proclaim the gospel to the world. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 1 Peter 2:9, Matthew 28:19-20)

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances given by Christ to His church. Baptism is a public declaration of faith, and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of His sacrifice. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Romans 6:3-4)

Worship and the Lord’s Day

We believe that worship is the joyful response of believers to God’s grace, expressed through praise, prayer, and obedience. Sunday, the Lord’s Day, is a special day for gathered worship. (John 4:23-24, Hebrews 10:25, Acts 20:7)

The Christian Life

We believe that every believer is called to live a life of holiness, continually growing in faith, love, and obedience to Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Romans 12:1-2)

The Last Days

We believe in the visible, personal, and glorious return of Jesus Christ, the final judgment, the resurrection of the dead, and the eternal state of either life or condemnation. (Matthew 25:31-46, Revelation 20:11-15, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
